Ms. Tiffany Cathey, Counselor Kinder, 2, and 4th

Ms. Tiffany Cathey, Counselor- Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade

TTRAYLOR@dallasisd.org

My name is Tiffany Cathey! I am the Kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd grade Counselor at Frederick Douglass Elementary School.  I am also the Parent Engagement Coordinator.  I am going into my 20th year as a professional educator.  I spend my first 15 years as a K-2 teacher for Dallas ISD, and I am beginning my fifth year as an elementary school counselor.  I am a recent widow living in Grand Prairie/Mansfield area with my eight year old daughter, Danae.  My husband was a retired Navy veteran.

I gre up in a small rural Texas town called Quitman (known for its Dogwood Trails) with my parents and a brother eight years younger.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Texas Woman's University and my Master's and Certification in School Counseling from Prairie View A&M University.  My favorite pastimes are spending quality with my daughter, watching TV, dining out, and reading inspiratinal and devotional books.

I believe that every child has a right to a quality education.  Providing a quality education as a counselor is reponding to students'needs, strengths, and abilities in ways that will help them reach their highest potential.  Additionally, I plan to play a role in creating a safe and reliable environment where students who have experienced adversities and trauma feel supported.  Finally, my vision is to help develop a culture that encourages a growth mindset in all students, whereby they see their own efforts as pathways to success.  We create Champions!

To my students, parents and teachers, I am here to HELP you.   Please do not hesitate to contact me with any problems, questions, or concerns you may have.  I look forward to an excellent year at Douglass.
